Dualistic

First you slip a little,
then you slip a little bit more,
then you slide;
 everyone asking how you ended up there.

Honestly if I was to articulate the sequence of events,
it was so gradual I didn’t really notice it either.

Looking back it is logical.
This decision or that, one place or the other;
but the logic in retrospect seems to be more of a blur.
You enter into it and take the bait.

And then you get used to it.
Maybe even start to miss it when it’s not there.

Someone once told me, in a heartfelt conversation,
as I began to slip into melodrama of the circumstance,
that it’s necessary to let go completely of both sides.
The grand philosophical inquiry, and the dejection .

That no reasonable person,
drinks Champagne while laying in a gutter.
